What a diversity manager needs from us
Vendor onboarding stalls on missing paperwork more often than on price. Ask for any of the following and it comes back the same business day where we can manage it.
- Current WBE certificate. A dated PDF for your vendor file, on request. Certifications carry terms and renewal dates, so ask for the current one rather than working from a copy someone saved in 2019.
- W-9 and vendor set-up forms. Completed and returned, including your portal's own template if you use Coupa, Ariba, Jaggaer or similar.
- SAM registration detail. UEI, CAGE, NAICS, PSC, exclusions status and registration expiry, written out for your record rather than as a screenshot.
- Diverse spend attestation. A signed statement of ownership percentage and classification for your annual reporting cycle.
- Certificate of insurance. Naming your entity as certificate holder, to your required limits.
- Test documentation. Published in full at Test Reports & Lab Results and attachable to a bid package without a request form.
Diverse spend targets are easiest to hit on office supplies and hardest to hit on specified goods, because the specified categories tend to be dominated by a handful of large suppliers. Mattress protection is one of those categories. Moving an encasement program to a certified women-owned manufacturer moves real dollars into the diverse column rather than a few thousand in consumables, and a property-wide encasement rollout is a meaningful line on an annual report.

Is Bargoose a certified women-owned business?
Yes. Bargoose Home Textiles, Inc. is a certified Women-Owned Business Enterprise (WBE), certified by the New York State Division of Minority and Women's Business Development. The company is woman-owned and woman-led, with Diane Rattner as President.
Certifications carry terms and renewal dates. Request the current certificate for your vendor file rather than relying on a copy already in circulation, and we will send the dated PDF.
Is Bargoose an SBA-certified WOSB?
No. Bargoose does not hold SBA-certified WOSB or EDWOSB status. The SAM.gov registration carries socio-economic code 8W, women-owned small business, which is a self-certification made by the registrant rather than a certification issued by SBA.
The practical difference: the 8W representation counts toward an agency's women-owned spend goals, and it does not make Bargoose eligible for an award set aside under the SBA Women-Owned Small Business Federal Contract Program. If your acquisition depends on a WOSB set-aside, Bargoose cannot receive that award.
Can Bargoose spend count toward our Tier 1 diverse spend report?
Yes, where your program recognizes state-issued women-owned certification, which most do. Bargoose sells direct, so a direct purchase is Tier 1 diverse spend under a standard supplier diversity framework.
If you buy Bargoose through a distributor instead, that volume is normally reported as Tier 2 through the distributor. We supply partners who report it that way. Tell us how you are buying and we will send the attestation in the form your program needs.
What documentation do you provide for vendor onboarding?
Current WBE certificate, W-9, completed vendor set-up forms including supplier portal templates, certificate of insurance naming your entity, a signed ownership and classification attestation for diverse spend reporting, and the full SAM registration detail.
Product documentation is already public. The third-party test library sits at Test Reports & Lab Results and can be attached to a bid package directly.
Does the NYS certification work outside New York?
For corporate supplier diversity programs, usually yes. Most corporate frameworks accept certification from a state agency, WBENC, or an equivalent third-party certifier, and do not restrict by state of issue.
For government MWBE programs it depends on the jurisdiction. Some accept New York certification under reciprocity, some require their own certification, and a few will accept it for goal counting but not for a formal set-aside. Send us the jurisdiction and the program name and we will confirm in writing before you rely on it.
Is Bargoose a minority-owned business?
