Boy wetting the bed

What is incontinence?

Incontinence is the loss of control over one’s bladder and/or bowel, resulting in the leakage of urine and/or fecal matter.

Who has incontinence?

According to recent reports by the US National institutes of Health, approximately thirty-three million adult men and women in the US are living with or have experienced urinary incontinence.  Needless to say, you are not alone!  A common misconception is that incontinence only affects older persons, however, men, women, and children of all ages and races can experience incontinence.

Why is incontinence mentioned on Bargoose’s website?

We are glad you asked!

Given the nature of incontinence – which knows know temporal bounds – oftentimes an involuntary urinary or bowel movement release can lead to damage to a mattress.  We can help! The following preventative measures can assist in protecting mattresses, making them more comfortable and sanitary:

  1. Mattress encasements: Waterproof mattress encasements such as Bargoose’s BedBug Solution® Elite, BedBug Solution® Hybrid, or BedBug Solution® 6 Gauge Vinyl, are the first line of defense against enuresis and other bodily emissions
  2. Mattress pads: After encasing your mattress, the use of a porous mattress pad will help eliminate the stress of mattress damage. These easy to install and wash protectors will help keep beds clean, comfortable and stylish.
  3. Pillow Encasements: Finally, a protective layer underneath your pillowcases will extend your pillow’s lifespan beyond typical use as well as prevent staining and degradation.
