PFAS Testing (August 2026)
SGS-CSTC Standards Technical Services (Shanghai) tested Bargoose products against a 725-substance PFAS panel referencing EN 17681-1:2025, plus total organic fluorine screening under California Assembly Bill 1817 using ASTM D7359-23.
Result: All 195 reported analytes returned ND (not detected). Total organic fluorine also not detected under California AB 1817 (detection limit 20 mg/kg; regulatory limit 100 mg/kg) — Pass.
Result: Total organic fluorine not detected (detection limit 20 mg/kg; regulatory limit 100 mg/kg) — Pass. Screened against the same 725-substance panel; all regulated substances measured below EU POPs and REACH Annex XVII limits.
Already compliant with California’s 2027 threshold
California AB 1817 currently prohibits textile products containing 100 ppm or more total organic fluorine. That limit drops to 50 ppm on January 1, 2027. Both products tested returned not detected at a method detection limit of 20 mg/kg — meaning both already satisfy the 2027 threshold, not only today’s.
Testing was commissioned through our manufacturing partner, J. Lynch Co., Ltd., with Bargoose Home Textiles named as buyer on both reports. Full unedited reports are linked above.
Pathogen & Fluid Barrier Testing
Result: No penetration on all three test specimens (<1 PFU/ml). Positive and negative controls valid. ASTM F1671 is the bloodborne-pathogen barrier standard used for medical protective materials — a more stringent challenge than synthetic blood alone.

Flammability
Result: Classified Class A under the 16 CFR 1632.6 ticking classification — the highest classification available under the standard.
Allergen Barrier — Pore Size Analysis
Result: Mean flow pore diameter of 4.74 microns in a tightly woven cotton barrier. Dust mites measure roughly 200–300 microns and mite allergen particles roughly 10–40 microns, so this weave blocks both without a membrane or coating.
Laundering & Dimensional Stability
Result: Shrinkage of −0.6% lengthwise and −2.1% widthwise, colour change grade 4–5, negligible pilling and fuzzing.
Certifications
Result: Certified to Product Class I, the strictest OEKO-TEX category, applied to articles for babies and toddlers. Tested for harmful substances against the OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 criteria catalogue.
Reports identify the tested material as “Spring/Sleepy’s Knit + TPU,” the laminated knit fabric used in the BedBug Solution® Elite encasement, tested on behalf of Bargoose Home Textiles.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are Bargoose mattress encasements PFAS-free?
The BedBug Solution® Elite Zippered Mattress Encasement was tested by SGS in August 2026 against a 725-substance PFAS panel and no PFAS were detected in any of the 195 reported analytes. Results vary by product and construction, so we publish testing per product rather than making a blanket catalog-wide claim. See the reports above for the specific product you are evaluating.
Do Bargoose products comply with California AB 1817?
Yes. Both the Elite encasement and the 3-Ply Quilted Waterproof Mattress Pad returned not detected for total organic fluorine under ASTM D7359-23, against a regulatory limit of 100 ppm. Both also fall below the stricter 50 ppm limit effective January 1, 2027.
What standard was used for PFAS testing?
The 725-substance panel references EN 17681-1:2025, analyzed by LC-MS/MS and GC-MS/MS. Total organic fluorine screening references ASTM D7359-23 by combustion ion chromatography. Testing was performed by SGS-CSTC Standards Technical Services (Shanghai) Co., Ltd.
Can I get test documentation for a bid or RFP?
All reports on this page are published in full and may be attached directly to bid packages. For product-specific documentation, spec sheets, or GSA and government procurement support, contact (516) 255-1736 or orders@bargoosebedding.com.
Are the encasements flame retardant compliant?
Flame-retardant compliant options are available and tested to 16 CFR 1610, with CFR 1632/1633 compliant constructions offered for hospitality and institutional housing. See the CFR 1632 Flame Retardant Guide.
